The Masters had 40 entries in their inaugural tournament held at Vision Lanes. Vision Lanes donated the bowling fees to the tournament and WWCUSBC donated $1,000 to the prize fund. The Oil pattern was selected by the tournament chairman. The pattern was chosen from Kegel's Challenge Series and was called the "Beaten Path". This pattern was selected to give the bowlers a challenging, but scorable pattern to bowl on. Five games were bowled to try and qualify for the bracket style single game elimination format. The top 16 bowlers advanced to the elimination rounds. A prize fund of over $3,000 was awarded to the top 16 bowlers.
There were some great matches in the bracket rounds with Glenn Bradford coming out on top as the winner of this first Masters tournament. His consistency paid off. Out of his 9 games his low game was 183 and his high was 223. Glenn received a check for $1,000 plus he will receive an entry into the team association event in March as well as a championship jacket and a ticket to the awards banquet in June. The Championship jacket will be awarded to Glenn at the awards Banquet.
With support from the bowlers we hope to make this an annual tournament. Thanks to everyone that bowled and we hope to see you again next season!
